Gatherings and Conferences
Talking about money is still a cultural taboo. But learning from each other accelerates our ability to optimally use money for social good.
I have twenty years experience providing the context for meaningful conversations about money among those who have "more than enough". By convening people who share deep concern about the world’s myriad challenges who also have the capacity to financially support change efforts, we have the opportunity to engage in important and too-rare conversations about money. These conversations can lead to significant action and are critical to the process of individual wealth holders directing their money to optimal use for social and environmental change.
Pertinent experience:
- In partnership with philanthropist/investor Carol Newell, I designed and facilitated an ongoing series of conferences called “Play BIG” for people of exceptional means who are interested in leveraging their capital through philanthropy and investment to create social and environmental change. (www.playbig.ca) 2004-present, British Columbia, Calgary, Toronto and San Francisco Partner organizations: Renewal, Investors Circle, Tides, Canadian Women’s Foundation, Tides Canada
- I acted as agenda design facilitator for the first Momentum, a conference for 300 donors and activists hosted by Tides Foundation, Threshold Foundation and Resource Generation. (2005)
- In partnership with the Minneapolis Foundation I designed and facilitated a two-day conference for women philanthropists. (2006)
- I designed and co- facilitated several of Threshold Foundation’s ongoing five-day conference agendas with particular attention to themes of Money and Class. (2002-2006)
